Kiwix allows you to enjoy many different content offline, an access to internet isn't require to use it. You need to download the Kiwix software with regards to the operating system you're using. Then, after starting Kiwix on your computer, you will be able in the Kiwix library to choose the content of your wishes and download it directly in Kiwix.

Microsoft Windows

Kiwix for Microsoft Windows is available in two formats:

  • A portable version, you can directly use after unzipping the file. This version may also be installed.
  • An install version, you will need to need to install on the computer before to use it.

Kiwix for Microsoft Windows is a 32 bits application and run on Microsoft Windows XP SP2 or later versions.

Apple Mac OSX

Kiwix for Apple Mac OSX is provided as a DMG file. You simply need to download it, mount the DMG image and copy/install Kiwix to the Applications folder. There is for now, no portable (directly usable on a USB flash drive for example) version of Kiwix for Aplle Max OSX.

A few GNU/Linux have also packaged Kiwix:
